How the states are read

The same rules as the status board, applied to every upstream source.

Live: the source has delivered and its last pull completed.
Awaiting key: the connector is built and tested, and waits for its key in the environment. It is not scheduled, not judged late and not reported as a fault.
Awaiting access: the publisher refused the request. The pull is retried on its schedule; the last rows it delivered, if any, stay in service.
Last pull did not complete: the refresh stopped. The rows from the last good pull stay in service and the reason is shown, stripped of any address or key.
Rows held and the last pull come from the database once the scheduled sync has written them, and from the snapshot shipped with the site until then.
A source whose terms restrict republication is reduced before it is stored: UN Comtrade to derived aggregates, PeeringDB to counts per city.
