How to cite and share Renewable Vision data.
Quote it, chart it, screenshot it: credit the source, keep the figures as published and keep the date. The permission and its conditions are in section 10 of the Terms of Use; this page gives the wording.
Attribution lines
Put one of these next to the material, with the date the data is as of, or the date you accessed it.

Screenshots, charts and quotation
You may use them in commentary, research, teaching, journalism, news reporting and internal documents, on these conditions:
- Credit Renewable Vision clearly, next to the material, with the date the data is as of or the date you accessed it, and name the original publisher where the page names one.
- Keep figures, charts and maps as published, and do not present an altered version as Renewable Vision’s. Where an open licence allows adaptation, say clearly what you changed.
- Keep the attribution, source lines, dates and labels such as “modelled” or “indicative” that accompany the material.
- Do not use the material out of context or in a way that misleads anyone about what it shows.
- Do not suggest that Renewable Vision endorses you, your product, your conclusions or any third party.
- Do not use the material to disparage or defame any person or organisation.
Nothing in the terms limits uses permitted by law, such as quotation for news reporting, research, teaching or criticism.
Open-licensed data
Renewable Vision’s own compilations are offered under CC BY-NC 4.0 unless a page says otherwise: you may share and adapt them for non-commercial purposes, with the attribution line and a note of any change. Third-party data keeps its publisher’s licence, stated on each page and in the data catalogue.
Commercial use and permission
Use in a product, a paid publication, advertising, a commercial dataset or a service for clients needs a data licence or written permission. Tell us what you want to use and how.
The name and the logo
- The name “Renewable Vision” may be used in the attribution line, as plain text.
- The logo may be used only with written permission, unaltered, and never in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership.
- Do not use the name or the logo in a domain name, a social-media handle, a product name or advertising.
Embedding a chart
Use the embed code under each chart. It carries the attribution, the link back and the terms, which must stay in place.
